A blog in 2025
The upgrade cycle
I cannot believe I’m typing a blog entry right now. This is where I started, probably more than 35 years ago. Typing HTML into text documents and pasting them into Angelfire, GeoCities, and Tripod websites. Along the way, I upgraded: there were the Tumblr days, and then came the moment I built my own website! Buying a domain, oh my! I coded it by hand, each page meticulously crafted. The forward, the back, the manual archiving each month as the days ticked by. <blink>
From a daily random photo website I created in high school that followed me into college — that was the beginning of social media for me. We made it ourselves. We shared it in forums, with real life friends, on IRC, and in our ICQ and AIM profiles and away messages.
∞ The times have changed, but everything eventually comes back to the beginning just to begin again.
